As we watch rising stars such as Britney Spears and Paris Hilton shop for posh new homes, the older stars are losing publicity – and their homes. Former co-host of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson (the one grandma used to watch), Ed McMahon, is facing foreclosure on his home with creditors breathing down his back. Hey, where are those Publisher’s Clearinghouse awards when you really need them?

Anyway, Ed finally found a buyer who went into escrow to buy his home but it seems the whole deal was a phony. The buyer opened an escrow account without a deposit and never funded the deal to purchase Ed’s house. The man who delivered million dollars checks to many will be facing homelessness if the house goes into foreclosure. Donald Trump is standing by to save the day and is offering to buy the house then lease it back to Ed for life. Apparently Don’s offer is a low ball one but he’s standing by it during discussions with Alex Davis, Ed’s realtor. Although Trump is trying to save the day, it seems he isn’t offering enough to get everybody off Ed’s back. Do you think someone will be delivering a check to Ed to save the day?

There are all types of celebrities going to rehab for just as many reasons. From Lindsay Lohan to Richie Sambora to Amy Winehouse, we’ve watched everyone do their time in rehab. In fact, it seems rehab is the Hollywood hot spot these day and if you’re anybody, you do your time there. The latest entry to the Rehab Hall of Shame is David Duchovny. Apparently David is taking on the characteristics of his sex-obsessed character on Showtime television series “Californication” because he’s in rehab for sex addiction.

That’s right, it was confirmed by Duchovny’s publicist, Flo Grace. His attorney Stanton Stein stated his client entered rehab voluntarily and, “I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family.” The second season of Californication will start on September 28 and the network commented, “All of us at Showtime wish David and his family the best during this very private time.” Duchovny is also married since 1997 to sexy actress Tea Leoni (is that why he thinks of sex all the time?) and they have two children. So what do you think? Is this a publicity ploy for Californication or is Duchovny really addicted to sex?

Do you remember MacKenzie Phillips from the television show “One Day At A Time”? MacKenzie recently proved old babes can party just as heartily as young ones. Putting Lindsay Lohan to shame, MacKenzie, who is 49 years old, was caught with heroin and cocaine.

Back in the 1970s, a partying time in history, MacKenzie struggled with drug and alcohol addiction. She spent several years talking about staying clean in the 1990s. Seems MacKenzie returned to her former party ways because she was arrested at the airport. Apparently she got caught with three balloons and three small zipped baggies. According to the police, the bags had heroin and cocaine in them. Wonder how many people MacKenzie was going to party with?

Oddly enough, nobody at the airport suspected MacKenzie of drugs at first and it wasn’t why she was detained. She went through the metal detector and a metal object set off the alarm. Employees started to pat MacKenzie down and she got uncooperative with them so they told her to sit. At this point, the incriminating baggies and balloons fell out of her waistband, down through her pant leg on right on the floor for everyone to see. Talk about some bad luck for MacKenzie…

Since when was a pregnancy trouble in Hollywood? Since the pregger babe is the next wife of Charlie Sheen. That’s right, Sheen’s latest wife Brooke Mueller is currently expecting a child with the star of the “Two and a Half Men” television show. Bloggers wonder how hostile ex-wife Denise Richard is reacting to this otherwise happy news.

No matter how his disgruntled ex-wife feels, Charlie and his new woman aren’t letting it get them down. Charlie says, “Brooke and I are thrilled! She’s the best stepmom Sam, Lola and Cassandra could ever hope for. Seeing her love and affection with those three, I know she’ll be an amazing mom. Unless I bat 100 percent, perhaps a boy awaits us.”

Currently Charlie has three daughters and no sons. His first daughter, Cassandra Jade Estevez, is 25 years old and her mom is Charlie’s former girlfriend Paula Profit. Charlie had 3 year old Sam and 2 year old Lola with Denise. The former couple is still engaging in a bitter custody battle, as evidenced by Denise’s negative commentary to the media and on her recent reality show (which did not do well, by the way). Charlie and real estate investor Brooke got hitched in May. Maybe Brooke will be a keeper if she delivers a boy…meanwhile, what about Denise and all her bitching?

Seems that Sean “Puffy” Combs, aka Diddy, was dealing with the barrel of a gun in the wee hours of the morning. Was this bad boy rapper in a brawl? Did he try to commit some heinous crime? Apparently, it seems Sean Combs was being driven around by his entourage on Sunset Strip at around 3 AM yesterday. Apparently one of the cars in the group did not have proper tags so the stop was made by the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.

The three cars in Diddy’s entourage also stopped. When other cars linger at a traffic stop, the policy policy is to call for backup. Soon enough, backup got to the scene and the driver of the second car started to be “extremely uncooperative” and wound up detained. Now Diddy and the rest of his entourage start getting out of their cars to check out what was going on to one of their group.

A deputy drew his weapon and at this point, did not know Diddy was part of the crew. Did shots ring through the night? Were members of the entourage incited into action? Actually, everything got peaceful in just a couple of minutes. The detained guy got let go – because he was in a rental car, he didn’t even get a ticket. Diddy and his entourage continued on through their night with no criminal arrests or further disturbances.

Is it any surprise Amy Winehouse is back in rehab? Seen last week wandering around in a bra and licking her hands, it seemed another stint in rehab was inevitable. With Amy constantly in and out of commission, another Brit needs to keep the paps amused. Seems Lily Allen is trying to be as wild and outrageous as Winehouse. Last week, the photogs caught Lily punching a pedestrian – a famous Amy Winehouse move!

Apparently Allen was walking down the street (or staggering since she was clearly “drunken”, as reported by The Sun). A female walking nearby started to to taunt Allen, which was probably not a very wise idea. She threw a few insults out at Allen who finally decided to yell, “Yeah, come and say that to my face you ?X?X!!” Allen added a few more expletives and decided to unleash her wrath on the outspoken passerby.

Allen went up to the woman and punched her as the photogs kept snapping away, catching photos and video. After punching the women, Allen walked away but wasn’t completely finished because she asked, “Where is that b— man? I’ll f—-g batter her.” You do wonder if that woman gets out often or reads the tabs – who would insult a loaded gun like Lily? Wonder if she’ll start hanging out with Winehouse when she gets out of rehab?

Despite her vast appeal, it seems Angelina Jolie doesn’t have a fan in Roseanne Barr. As Jolie and Pitt celebrate their new babies, Roseanne decided to blast the famous couple on her website. Seems she’s not as enamored of the duo as the rest of the world and criticizes their growing group of kids and political perspectives.

Rosie says, “Evil spawn Angelina Jolie and her vacuous hubby Brad Pitt make about forty million dollars a year in violent psychopathic movies and give away three of it to starving children trying to look as if they give a crap about humanity as they spit out more dunces that will consume more than their fair share and wreck the earth even more. Also Miss Jolie says she likes McCain too and hasn’t decided who to endorse….huh? Aren’t you supposed to be somewhat enlightened, or do you not know that the African daughter you hold in every picture had parents who suffered and died because of the Republican party’s worldwide economic assault on Africa over the last few decades since Reagan?”

Kim Kardashian will be showing off her ample ASSets in a remake of a Calvin Klein jeans ad (think Brooke Shields) and recently spoke to Radar about the new campaign and other important stuff in her life – such as, did OJ really do it?

Kim’s dad was the attorney for OJ during the murder trial of his former wife Nicole Brown Simpson. When Kim was asked if she thought the football giant did it, she said, “This has caused a lot of turmoil for my family, so some things are best left unsaid. I remember going to the trial with Kourtney, and we would sit near my dad and look over and see my mom and Bruce sitting next to the Brown family. At the time we felt like we had to take sides, and we chose my dad’s. Mostly because my mom was newly married to Bruce.” Of course, that’s the other sports star, Bruce Jenner of recent reality TV fame.

Curvaceous Kim also talked about her sex tape. “You either put yourself out there or you sit at home being depressed. Everything in life, good or bad, you have to learn from and move on. Everyone makes mistakes when they’re young. I should be no different than everybody else. Kim feels everyone has a more realistic picture of her life after doing reality TV. “Before, people assumed all I did was shop all day and party all night and that I was always wasted and I didn’t work. But I don’t even drink alcohol! And I’ve been running a clothing store for going on five years now. So the show’s done a good job of showing us getting up every day, going to our store, working.”

The romance of 2008 is finally over, just as everyone predicted. Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer broke up and it’s no surprise it was John’s wandering eye (and other body parts). There are conflicting reports about who broke up with who but a certain source insists Jen dumped John, saying John decided to move on. According to word on the street, “She is very fond of John and has thought he might be the one. She finds him funny, sexy and very talented. … Plus he understands all the aspects of living in a fishbowl. But in the final analysis, she just got tired of his roving eye.”

Other sources say Jen is already looking for a new man. An industry insider claims, “I got a call from someone very, very close to Jen over the weekend, asking if I knew anyone who might want to go out on a date with her. They weren’t being very discreet about it — the news hadn’t even broken yet that she and John split. You’d think of all people, Jen Aniston wouldn’t need to use people in her camp as a dating service.” Maybe Jen want to even the score by appearing in the tabs with a hot stud. After all, John was caught in a hot tub with a babe in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and there are rumors about flings with a promoter’s assistant, cocktail waitress and a groupie.

A friend of Jen’s sums up, “Above everything else, Jennifer is looking for stability and loyalty in a relationship. She is still hurting from losing Brad to Angelina – even after all this time.” Imagine if Jen stole Brad Pitt back from Angelina Jolie – after all, the two parents of a constantly growing brood never did get married…

While babes like Britney Spears are finally getting themselves together (Spears is really looking hot in her bikini these days), other are still struggling with addiction and distress. After Amy Winehouse dropped out of the scene for awhile, it seems she’s resurfaced and the Grammy-award winning singer doesn’t seem to have changed very much.

Apparently the paps caught Amy when she emerged from hiding on Thursday night but she’s still up to her usual stuff – you know walking around wearing a bra and licking her hands. To make the evening more interesting, Winehouse looked totally dazed after she slapped a pedestrian and threw a pint glass at one of the paps. Seems her time out didn’t change much…

Meanwhile, word on the street say Mary Kate Olsen hangs out with other drug dealers and thugs as she waifs away. The National Enquirer spoke to Mary Kate’s bodyguard, who said she runs around with a shady crowd. Wonder if any of these partying people had a hand in providing the drugs that lead to Heath Ledger’s demise? Is that why Mary Kate wants immunity and why she wears such odd outfits? Oddly enough, Britney Spears may wind up being a reformation example for these dazed and confused popwrecks…
